THE Cebu Provincial Government has prepared an P18.3 billion budget for 2022, the largest chunks of which will be spent on infrastructure, health and the Covid-19 response.

Next year’s budget is P3 billion higher than the 2021 budget, which is P15 billion.

The Capitol’s allocation for infrastructure in the 2022 budget includes concreting of provincial and barangay roads in the province and construction of a water system.

For its program on health, the Provincial Government will upgrade provincial and district hospitals, and focus on (coronavirus disease) Covid-19 recovery, Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia said Tuesday, October 19, 2021.

Sixth District Provincial Board (PB) Member Glenn Anthony Soco said the 2022 budget proposal has been endorsed to the PB and is scheduled for deliberation.

“Deliberations will happen after passing it for first reading. We (committee on budget and appropriations) intend to pass the resolution for first reading in our next regular session,” said Soco. (ANV)

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
