City of Naga to pour P10M Capitol aid into boardwalk improvement

THE Cebu Provincial Government recently turned over P10 million worth of financial assistance to the City of Naga, which will be used to improve the city’s boardwalk.

A popular tourism destination, the Naga boardwalk was opened to the public in 2017 after it started construction in 2015 with a P50-million budget.

“The financial assistance will be used for the replacement of the wood at our boardwalk. The wood now is old and going through some wear and tear for more than five years. We will replace it with the more durable wood plastic composite (WPC),” said City of Naga Mayor Kristine Chiong in a Sugbo News broadcast report.

Compared to natural wood, WPC is considered to be a more sustainable material that uses recycled plastic and waste wood. It is also resistant to termites and insects.

Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia visited the boardwalk in one of the Capitol’s recent Caravan of Services and found micro-enterprises resuming operations in the area. (NRC, PR)
