THE chief of the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office was reportedly threatened after the filing of charges against Tejero Barangay Councilman Jessielou Cadungog, Mayor Tomas Osmeña said.

In his news conference yesterday, Osmeña said the matter might be the reason for the inhibition.

“I heard that the chief city fiscal was threatened that her children would be killed. I don’t know, she was just crying and crying and we’re trying to figure out why she’s crying,” the mayor said.

Osmeña said this suggests malice on the part of those who are filing the case.

He said the police should be transparent to the public on the peace and order situation in the city.

“It shows malice on the part of those who are filing the case. That’s why it’s very important to be transparent about this so that people will see for themselves this is the police department of Cebu,” he said.

Earlier, the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office decided to let all their prosecutors inhibit themselves from handling the cases filed in connection with the alleged ambush of Cadungog, which resulted in the death of PO3 Eugene Calumba. (RVC)
