City to start rehabilitating damaged plants in Plaza

AFTER almost six months, Cebu City’s Parks and Playground Commission (CCPPC) can now start rehabilitating the plants and ornaments in Plaza Independencia that were damaged during several Sinulog 2018 activities in the area.

Mayor Tomas Osmeña turned over last June 18 a check worth P160,000 on behalf of the Sinulog Foundation Inc. (SFI) to CCPPC head Dr. Librado Macaraya.

In an interview, Macaraya said several plants and pots were damaged after a concert was held in the Plaza, when spectators were unruly.

“The P160,000 is so small, but it can help. We’ll use this to purchase new plants and cement for the broken planters,” he told reporters. Aside from this, SFI is also set to extend an additional P200,000 to CCPC soon.

It will be used for the rehabilitation of plants in the center islands on the Sinulog grand parade route that were also damaged. (RTF)
