THE Municipal Government of Consolacion, Cebu plans to conduct targeted testing on its constituents to determine how many have been infected with Covid-19.

Consolacion Vice Mayor Teresa Alegado told reporters that the Municipal Government has sought for a budget to fund the targeted testing.

The Department of Health (DOH) Central Visayas will initiate the testing upon the request of the Municipal Government.

Alegado said they expect the targeted testing to be conducted by next week.

As of Monday, Aug. 3, 2020, Consolacion has 455 confirmed cases, with 146 active cases and 285 recoveries.

Alegado said they planned to use around P4 million from the office of President Rodrigo Duterte to fund the prevalence testing.

They also need to appropriate at least P1 million to compensate medical frontliners who will initiate the prevalence testing.

While personnel from DOH will conduct the testing, medical frontliners hired by the town will collate the data from the testing.

Alegado hopes that the results of the prevalence testing will help the municipal government in coming up with a response in preventing more Covid-19 cases from cropping up in their town. (ANV / JKV)
