Courage Cebu raises P1.3M to aid frontliners

LOCAL fund drive Courage Cebu has now raised more than P1.3 million and has expanded its donation efforts to Bohol and Dumaguete.

Divine Lee-Go and husband, Blake, told SunStar Cebu that aside from the personal protective equipment and groceries, they are also acquiring ventilators for Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, one of the region's hospitals that are in the frontline for Covid-19 treatment.

Ventilators, which can retail for P300,000, can help patients breathe especially if their lungs are already overtaken by the disease.

"We also decided to allocate 30 percent of our funds to ventilators. Because as our numbers grow, we will run out of ventilators to help patients. This is to support our frontliners and patients alike because aside from protective gears, they need equipment to help them do their jobs well," Go said.

As the entire Cebu will be under an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), the police and barangays also reached out to the fund drive.

"They also are frontliners in this so we are trying to gather more face shields for them," she said. (JOB)
