Danao officials give out aid to displaced vendors

VENDORS in Danao City who were displaced by a massive fire that hit the city’s public market were given sacks of rice by the local government unit in northern Cebu.

In a post on its official Facebook page, officials of the Danao City Government conducted the distribution of sacks of rice to affected market vendors on Saturday, June 4, 2022.

Certificates

They also gave certificates to vendors whose stalls or products were either destroyed or damaged by the fire.

The certificates must be presented by the vendors when they claim their financial assistance from the City Government or when they decide to transfer shop at the temporary sites being prepared for them by the City.

The Danao City Government has identified seven temporary relocation sites where vendors can set up shop and sell their goods.

The City has started setting up these temporary relocation sites since Saturday, June 4.

A huge fire hit the Danao City Public Market in Barangay Poblacion on Thursday night, June 2, destroying at least 100 stalls.

The damage caused by the blaze was pegged by the firefighters at P52.2 million.
