Davide, Magpale happy over COA report

BOTH Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale were elated over the report of the Commission on Audit (COA) declaring Cebu Province as the richest among all provinces nationwide in terms of total assets.

Davide and Magpale said their administration's good governance, prudent spending and strict implementation of procurement laws are contributory factors to their recent accolade.

When asked to comment about the statement of former governor Cong. Gwendolyn Garcia saying that the current administration's progress has not been felt by their constituents, both officials said the gubernatorial candidate should not be judgmental especially since Garcia's administration was marred by allegations of corruption, particularly the anomalous procurement of the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) and the illegal backfilling of the Balili Property.

“Unlike in her (Garcia) time, we would not push through with a project without going through the proper process,” Davide told reporters earlier today.

“Wala tay Balili, wala tay CICC. Pero dato gihapon ta,” Davide added.

Magpale is running against Garcia for governor, while Davide is running as vice governor for next year's elections. (JKV)
