THE policeman from Minglanilla who was killed by unknown assailants on Wednesday, Nov. 14, was charged with administrative cases in 2017.

Based on the victim’s background investigation, PO2 Lord Romyth Cañada was charged with less grave misconduct and neglect of duty after he ran when he found out he would undergo a surprise drug test.

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 suspended him for the whole month of August that year.

When he reported to work in September, he was relieved and reassigned to the PRO 7.

“He was never able to return to the Minglanilla Police Station,” said CPPO information office Supt. Jannete Rafter in Cebuano.

Minglanilla police returned to the scene of the crime to get statements from witnesses.

They will also check the security cameras in the area if these were able to capture the incident.

Cañada was on his way to have his vehicle repaired when he was attacked in Barangay Calajoan. (from AYB of SuperBalita Cebu)
