A TOTAL of 1,281 informal sector workers in Bohol received their wages amounting to P5.1 million from the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) 7 through its Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (Tupad) program.

Beneficiaries are residents of the municipalities of Dauis, Alburquerque, Sikatuna, and Baclayon who did community cleanup and beautification of tourist activity spots in their respective localities for ten days.

“We had to schedule three batches of payouts in the town of Dauis where it registered around 1,133 TUPAD workers to be able to effectively observe the minimum health protocol during the distribution of reference codes,” said Dole 7 Director Salome Siaton.

Reference codes were used by all Tupad beneficiaries to claim their salaries at the nearest branch of the Department’s partner money remittance center.

The agency also distributed reference codes to 41 beneficiaries in Alburquerque, 39 in Sikatuna, and 68 in Baclayon.

According to Dole Bohol Officer-in-Charge Angelie T. Salgados, Dole shelled out P464,600 for the first batch of Tupad workers, P1.97 million for the second batch, and P2.15 million for the third batch, all in the town of Dauis.

Dole also disbursed P597,920 for the wages of Tupad workers in Alburquerque, Sikatuna, and Baclayon.

Beneficiaries were paid with the highest prevailing minimum wage rate in Central Visayas or P404 per day. They were also provided with an orientation on safety and health, personal protective equipment, and a group personal accident insurance coverage with the Government Service Insurance System for one year.
