AN APPEAL for plea bargaining was made by a 54-year-old man who yielded more than a kilo of substance believed to be shabu worth around P6.9 million during a drug raid in Barangay Canday-ong, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental on Tuesday evening, February 7, 2023.

Operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA 7) conducted the raid that resulted in the arrest of Fernando Saraga, a native of Dumaguete City.

PDEA 7 spokesperson Liea Alcantara said Saraga was arrested after six months of monitoring when their source gave them information about the suspect’s whereabouts.

Saraga can allegedly dispose of about a kilo of illegal drugs every month.

Plea bargaining is the practice of negotiating an agreement between the prosecution and the defense whereby the defendant pleads guilty to a lesser offense, according to brittanica.com.

The suspect will be facing a charge for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (BBT/TPT)
