MORE than 50 commissioned and non-commissioned officers of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) underwent a mandatory drug test on Thursday morning, August 8, 2019.

Police Col. Gemma Vinluan, CCPO director, said the drug test is part of their intensive internal cleansing among their ranks after three personnel from the Waterfront Police Station were reassigned to the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO 7) after they were found positive of illegal drug use earlier this week.

“The instruction of our Police Regional Director Brigadier General Debold Sinas is not to just conduct a random drug test, but all (personnel) shall undergo a drug test,” she said.

Vinluan said 57 police officers who underwent the drug test included herself, 40 police commissioned officers and 16 police non-commissioned officers assigned at CCPO headquarters.

The city's 11 station chiefs also underwent the same drug test.

Vinluan said PRO 7 also conducted a surprise drug test for drug enforcement unit members assigned in stations under her jurisdiction earlier.

Earlier this week, Sinas announced that three police officers assigned at the Waterfront Police Station in Cebu City tested positive for illegal drug use during a surprise random drug test conducted last month.

The three were part of 61 police personnel who underwent a surprise random drug test last July 26 to 27.

The three have been reassigned at the PRO 7's Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit and have been disarmed. (WBS)
