Fire destroys 100 houses in Casuntingan

AT LEAST 100 houses were razed by fire that hit a residential area in Barangay Casuntingan, Mandaue City on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 14, 2019.

Based on the initial reports, an estimated P460,000 worth of properties were destroyed by the blaze.

Around 200 families were displaced in the village.

The Mandaue City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) received the alarm at 2:02 p.m. The fire reportedly started at the house owned by Lene Caripes.

After receiving the information, the firefighters rushed to the area. The first fire truck arrived at 2:07 p.m.

The BFP personnel placed the fire under control at 3:17 p.m., preventing it from damaging other structures in the barangay.

Most of the houses were made of light materials, while only a few were made of concrete.

Investigation is underway to determine the cause behind the blaze. KFD
