Fire hits officers’ quarters in CentCom base

AN afternoon fire razed a two-storey military officers’ quarters in the Navy Village inside Central Command headquarters in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City yesterday.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) 7 received the alarm at 3:45 p.m. and raised a third alarm at 4 p.m.

Firetrucks from neighboring barangays rushed to the residential area within the military compound.

Firefighters placed the fire under control (meaning it could no longer spread) at 4:06 p.m. and declared it out at 4:38 p.m.

According to the BFP 7, the fire was believed to have started in Unit 8-A, which was destroyed.

Damaged were units 8-B and 8-C. Damage to property reached at P80,000.

Fire investigators have yet to determine what caused the blaze.
