Fire razes 70 houses in Alaska Mambaling, Cebu

AT LEAST 70 houses were affected after a fire hit Sitio Wang-yu, Abbya, Ipil-Ipil in Barangay Alaska Mambaling, Cebu City Wednesday morning, September 18, 2019.

The fire department received the fire alarm at 11:07 a.m. and raised it to Task Force Alpha at 11:26 am.

The fire was declared under control at 12:05 a.m.

Senior Fire Officer 3 Oliver Tautho, fire investigator, said the fire started inside the house of a certain Mamerto "Anjun" Ravina Jr.

Fire investivators are looking into electrical short circuit as possible cause of the blaze. They are also looking into an open flame from an unattended cooking as possible reason.

According to Antonieta Ladungga, whose house was fourth from Ravina's house, she was sleeping when she heard the roar of her neighbors.

"Ang estorya nagdula man daw mga bata og kayo unya kana ilang balay ni Anjun, daghan na sila og mga foam kay naghimo na silag punda ug kana, mga foam (based on what I've heard, kids were playing with fire and the house of Anjun is filled with foam because they make them, as well as pillowcases)," Ladungga said.
