A 45-YEAR-OLD man died after he was shot several times by a still unidentified gunman in Buenavista town in Bohol at 5:25 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2022.

Police Corporal Wilson Daguing of Buenavista Police Station identified the victim as Jerson Damgo, a fish broker and vendor from Barangay Hunan, Buenavista.

Daguing said Damgo was sitting on a chair in Barangay Hunan Public Market, waiting for the fish to arrive so he can distribute it to other vendors inside the market when an unidentified man arrived and shot him without any provocation.

The gunman fled onboard a motorcycle.

The victim was brought to a hospital in the neighboring Inabanga town but was declared dead by the attending physician.

Damgo succumbed to gunshot wounds in his armpit, chest and arm.

The police recovered three spent shells of .45 pistol from the crime scene.

Daguing said they would look into personal grudge or illegal drug activity as the possible motive in the killing.

Daguing said the victim had already been arrested before in Loon town, Bohol due to illegal drug activity.

Damgo was also previously arrested in a raid by the Buenavista police on his house for illegal possession of firearm.

The police were armed with a search warrant then. (BBT/TPT)
