Benjie B. Talisic

A FORMER administrator of Tabunok Public Market in Talisay City was shot dead past 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 3, 2022, on Rabaya Street, just a few meters from Tabunok barangay hall.

Police Corporal Milfred Labitad of Talisay Police Station identified the victim as Leonora Carlos, 57.

Labitad said Carlos was about to close her store when she was shot by the suspect in the head, killing her instantly.

The gunman, who was wearing a helmet and a mask, fled on board a motorcycle.

A resident who asked not to be named said Carlos was a good person and she has not heard of any person having a grudge at her, except for her housemaid whom she allegedly reprimanded.

"Ako naman ni siya'ng gi-advisan sa una nga manira og sayo kay ang akong kahadlokan kanang tulis bitaw, duna ni siyay anak nga tua na sa gawas unya kani iyang duha ka anak dinhi karon nga maoy iyang katabang kay ang iyang bana gi-operahan bag-o lang," she said.

(I already advised her to close her store early for fear of being robbed, she has a son who works abroad and her two other children are helping her in the store as her husband had just underwent surgery).

She added that the victim's husband was inside the room when the shooting took place.

The Talisay City police are still trying to establish the motive for the killing. (BBT, TPT)
