CHARGES for murder and other crimes are set to be filed Tuesday, December 27, 2022, against eight members of the Amersan Fam Gang who were behind the shootout with a rival group in Barangay Parian, Cebu City on December 22, 2022.

A 34-year-old resident of Barangay Tejero identified as Anthony Bolocon Corro died in the incident after he was hit by a stray bullet, while two others were wounded.

Police Major Efren Diaz, Parian Police Station chief, said the eight suspects will be charged with murder, frustrated murder, and alarm and scandal.

Three of the eight suspects are minors, said Diaz.

He said they could not file cases yet against members of the other gang, Marka Tabla Gang, as investigation on who were responsible from their side is ongoing.

Diaz said the complainants were the victims who were caught in the crossfire between the two groups.

“Ang complainant ani katong mga biktima. Naka execute na silang lahat ng affidavit. Ang atoa lang ani mo guide lang sa pag file sa kaso,” said Diaz.

(The victims are the complainants in the case. They have already executed their affidavit. The police will just guide them in the filing of cases.)

He added that Police Executive Master Sergeant Vincent Villarin Aguanta, who sustained a wound in his right arm, and Donna Blair Saavedra Banzon have been declared safe.

On December 23, Police Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog, chief of the Cebu City Police Office, met with residents of Barangay T. Padilla to implement the “Bola Kontra Droga” and prevent gang wars. Dalogdog encouraged the parents to monitor their children.

He also asked the barangay officials to implement sports programs for the youth to prevent the teenagers from being involved in the illegal drug trade and gang wars. (AYB/LMY)
