A YOUNG girl drowned in a swimming pool on Sunday afternoon in Barili, Cebu, while celebrating the annual feast of St. John the Baptist.

Roselyn Alastra, 8, was last seen around 4 p.m., June 24, swimming with her mother in a kiddie pool of the AC Tilapia Fun Fishing Resort.

According to Police Officer 2 Dindo Patelana, Roselyn's mother, Victoria, left her daughter to go to their cottage presumably to get something.

When she returned, her daughter was already gone.

She looked for her daughter and found her slippers near the adult swimming pool.

Victoria sought the help of the resort's lifeguard Apolinar Labajo, who then dove into the pool and found Roselyn.

The girl was rushed to Barili District Hospital where she was declared dead. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
