A five-minute grand musical firework will cap off the Sinulog 2019 celebration this year.

The Cebu City Government is also spending P30 million for the Sinulog 2019 celebration.

Councilor Dave Tumulak said the grand musical fireworks display inside Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) will be one of the highlights during the Sinulog Grand Parade on Jan. 20.

“This is the first time that we will have a musical fireworks display,” he said.

Tumulak, who is also the chairman of the executive committee of the Sinulog Foundation Inc. (SFI) said a private airline company sponsored the grand musical fireworks display.

Airasia shouldered the P500,000 expenses for the musical fireworks display, which will happen after the grand finale.

Aside from it, Tumulak said three malls will also do a simultaneous fireworks display immediately after the musical fireworks display inside CCSC.

This year, the City is spending P30 million for the Sinulog, which covers the subsidy for the contingents and prizes for the winners.

Each of the dancing contingent has P400,000 subsidy from the City.

Of the amount, P1.6 million will be used for the rental of sound system, lights, LED screen and other equipment.

This year, SFI and the City will no longer be spending for the rental of stage, which would have cost P800,000.

“The City purchased its own stage and we will use it for the first time this year. Personnel from Dakay construction will install it,” Tumulak said.
