THE water level at the Jaclupan dam in Talisay City has improved following the downpour in the past days, according to the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD).

MCWD spokesperson Charmaine Rodriguez-Kara said from the 6,900 cubic meters that the Jaclupan facility was able to supply daily just a week ago, it is now able to supply 10,000 cubic meters daily.

Water supply from Jaclupan, though, is still at a critical level, as the current supply is still below the 33,000 cubic meters per day that it used to supply to MCWD clients before the dry spell started.

As for the Buhisan Dam, Kara said it remains dry and still cannot supply water to MCWD clients.

Because of the situation, the rationing of water in some service areas of MCWD, mostly in elevated and interior areas, will have to continue, Kara said.

For its part, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Visayas said the sudden rain in some parts of the Visayas is caused by the local thunderstorm.
