A HITMAN who has two warrants of arrest for attempted murder was arrested in a drug bust launched by personnel of the City Drug Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

Seized from the suspect, identified as John Art Opura Arabis, alias Janox, 18, was a substance believed to be shabu worth P80,000.

Arabis is living inside the Chinese Cemetery in Barangay Carreta, Cebu City, said police.

Police Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog, chief of the CCPO, said Arabis has been identified as the person who shot a member of the City Mobile Force Company during an anti-illegal gambling operation in Sitio Laguna, Barangay Lorega on September 5, 2022.

Dalogdog said they will conduct further investigation to determine the other shooting incidents the arrested suspect was involved in.

The police also believe that Arabis has cohorts who may also be involved in the crime incidents.

“Possible, kay kining mga ingun ani nga tao, wala lang ni siya nag solo. Naay posibilidad nga naa sad ni grupo,” said Dalogdog.

(That’s possible as people like him don’t just operate alone. There might be other groups involved.)

He said Arabis has revealed some names based on their initial investigation, adding that these people will be the target of their follow-up operations in the coming days. (AYB/LMY)

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
