Inayawan chief files raps vs. predecessor

INAWAYAN, Cebu City Barangay Captain Kirk Bryan Repollo has filed five criminal and administrative cases against his predecessor before the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas.

The complaints against former Inayawan village chief Lutherlee Ignacio-Soon stem from her administration’s purchase of two mini dump trucks and the spending of P47 million from 2013 until 2018.

Repollo, who is running for councilor in Cebu City’s second district in the May polls, said the transactions lacked documents that could prove the legality of Soon’s actions.

The complaints against Soon include violations of the anti-graft and corrupt practices law, malversation of public property, and the code of conduct and ethical standards for public officials and employees.

Soon was also charged with conduct unbecoming prejudicial to the best interest of the public and serious and grave abuse of authority.

Repollo said there was no proper turnover of documents and equipment when he started his office on July 2 last year.

He only learned about Soon’s transactions after his staff discovered the documents.

In his affidavit, Repollo stated that each mini dump truck costs P1.145 million, but the barangay only has one mini dump truck.

He said they are looking for the other dump truck.

The dump truck issued by the City Hall was returned as it was damaged. (From PAC of SuperBalita Cebu, KAL)
