A MAN will face trial for grave threats because he allegedly threatened to post a woman’s nude photos and videos on Facebook if she would not give him money and have sex with him.

Prosecutor Benison Harayo found enough evidence to charge Charles Ikeen Diaz with grave threat, in relation to Section 6 of Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. Bail was set at P30,000.

Leah (real name withheld), a first-year college student in Cebu City, said that a Facebook user named Black Lotus messaged her about some nude photos and videos she had sent her boyfriend. Her boyfriend’s account had been hacked.

Last May 16, 2018, Leah said, Black Lotus messaged her on Facebook to ask for money and sex, otherwise he would upload her nude photos and videos. The 18-year-old complainant said that Black Lotus, who later turned out to be Diaz, then demanded a meeting in a downtown mall.

Worried, Leah informed her parents, who then sought police assistance.

When Diaz received P3,000 from Leah in the mall, the police stepped in to arrest him. (GMD)
