TO CELEBRATE Valentine's Day, more than 160 children of drug surrenderers in Cebu City received school supplies from the Cebu City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (Cosap) on Thursday, February 14.

Cosap executive director Garry Lao said the program is part of their effort to help the surrenderers and their families.

“This is our way of making them feel that they are loved and they and their families are important,” he said.

Even before the distribution of school supplies, Cosap has also distributed rice to the surrenderers to help their families.

Lao said that even after the drug surrenderers already underwent rehabilitation, it is also important to take care of them after it.

“It’s what we call the after care. If there is no after care, they might be tempted again,” he said.

Lao also clarified that his office will not distribute condoms, on Thursday, February 14 as everyone celebrates the Valentine's Day.

“A Facebook (FB) post on the account Cosap Cares announced last Sunday, (February 10), that COSAP will distribute free condoms today (February 14). The page has only one follower and was only created recently. This is to clarify that the office has no FB page and I asked the political enemies of Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmena to spre Cosap from dirty and cheap propaganda,” Lao said.
