Lay minister killed inside public market in Inayawan, Cebu City

A LAY minister was shot and killed inside the public market of Barangay Inayawan in Cebu City at 12:20 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2021.

The fatality was identified as Danilo Vestil Bacalso, 68. He succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head.

Initial details from the police state that the killer wore an off-white shirt, gray short pants and a black baseball cap.

The killer covered his face with a tube mask.

Before he was shot, Bacalso had been walking inside the public market. He was on his way to the family's ancestral house in Barangay Poblacion Pardo to talk with a boarder about the latter's rent, investigators learned from the victim's family.

The gunman approached Bacalso and shot the latter multiple times, hitting the victim in the head at least once.

After Bacalso fell to the ground, the gunman left the public market.

Investigators found two empty shells and a live ammunition of an undetermined caliber.

Bacalso's body was brought to a funeral home for an autopsy.
