A LIBEL complaint was filed by a former village official against three women who accused him of making sexual advances on them.

Lorenzo Basamot, the complainant, was accused of committing sexual harassment when he was still leading the Department of General Services’ records and archives management division.

The former Kamputhaw barangay captain recently quit his post, saying he could no longer bear the burden.

“For the past few weeks, my reputation had been the subject of public innuendos and salacious gossip brought about by the publication of the affidavits of the first three respondents,” read a portion of Basamot’s complaint-affidavit, which was filed before the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019.

He further stated in the affidavit that the “public comments” about him surfaced after the three employees’ affidavits were sent to different media personalities in Cebu. He earlier denied he made sexual advances on the respondents.

Basamot, for his part, said he decided to file a libel complaint against his accusers, saying their allegations against him contain malice, defaming him in public. (PAC, KAL)

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
