THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) 7 will still arrest violators despite the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

LTO 7 Director Victor Caindec said that four teams from their office are being deployed to strategic locations in Cebu to arrest those who are not following the speed limit.

He explained that most cases of reckless driving usually occur on empty streets as some drivers usually disregard road signs, signals and even the speed limit when driving on idle streets, often resulting in accidents.

LTO 7 will apprehend truck delivery drivers who are driving at high speed and not following the speed limit and motorcycle drivers who are not wearing their helmets.

Even those unregistered private car drivers will be apprehended as LTO 7 will be conducting random inspections during the ECQ.

Caindec would also like to inform the public that their office on N. Bacalso Ave. is temporarily shut down to protect their employees from catching the virus as the office is near a hospital.

On the other hand, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) 7 is still accepting special permit requests through email, according to LTFRB 7 Director Eduardo Montealto Jr.

The LTFRB is also checking on each bus operator hired by local government units if it has a franchise.

Montealto added that if the LGU is not paying the operator, the special permit worth P170 will be waived for three days.
