Man kills employer who ‘turns off’ electric fan in Talisay City, Cebu

GEE Iven Urbano’s nap on Sunday morning, April 24, 2022, was cut short when he was awakened by discomfort in his workplace in Talisay City, Cebu.

He then noticed the electric fan had been turned off.

Believing it was his employer, Nomeriano Lastimosa, who had turned off the fan, an angry Urbano, 37, grabbed a “pinuti” (a long bolo) and attacked the businessman.

Urbano hacked Lastimosa, 55, but when the latter was still alive because the weapon was not sharp enough, the suspect proceeded to stab his employer in the neck, radio dyLA reported.

The suspect, a resident of Barangay Talamban, Cebu City, surrendered after the incident; then the police learned that he had held his anger towards his employer for quite some time already.

Investigation showed Urbano has not received his salary from Lastimosa since October last year, according to desk officer Patrolman Joemar Ocso.

The suspect said Lastimosa had told him that the reason behind the delay of his salary’s release was the poor sales in his Koi fish and hog businesses.

Urbano said he did not quit his work because Lastimosa’s wife was kind to him.

The suspect will face murder charges before the prosecutor’s office in Talisay City.
