A MAN was arrested for his alleged involvement in the killing of a businessman in Barangay Lamac, Consolacion, Cebu.

Chief Inspector Gerard Ace Pelare, the town police commander, identified the suspect as Benjie Osabel.

Osabel's alleged cohort, Kevin Malazarte, is still at large.

The suspects' motive in killing their victim, Ruffy Bacalso, was personal grudge. The shooting happened around 1:45 a.m. Saturday, October 6.

Pelare said investigation showed Bacalso received death threats from Malazarte days before the incident.

Malazarte was an employee of Bacalso in the latter's barbeque business. Bacalso terminated Malazarte's job for theft.

Bacalso also had a quarrel with Malazarte, his competitor in barbeque business.

Pelare said they have a witness who identified Osabel and Malazarte as the persons on board a motorcycle who opened fire at Bacalso, who was driving a multicab in Lamac.

The suspects will be facing murder complaints. (KAL)
