Man suffocates to death in Inayawan, Cebu City fire

A 52-YEAR-OLD man died due to suffocation during a fire in Sitio Little Plaza, Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City on Friday morning, March 17, 2023.

The cause of Jonado Fuentes’ death was suffocation due to smoke inhalation, according to FO3 Fulbert Navarro, duty investigator of the Cebu City Fire Office. Suffocation, or asphyxiation, occurs when the body is deprived of oxygen.

The fire started at the home of a certain Lorencia “Puring” Quiobe before it spread to 24 other houses. It was placed under first alarm at 8:23 a.m. and declared out at 9:20 a.m.

Firemen estimated the damage at P200,000.

Navarro said an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire. (BBT / TPT)
