SENIOR citizens and Mandaue City Hall employees will soon get their Christmas bonus from the City Government.

Mayor Jonas Cortes said they will prioritize the elderly, persons with disability (PWDs), job-order (JO) workers, barangay health nutrition workers and clean and green workers, although regular employees will also receive a bonus.

Senior citizens will get P2,000 each as anniversary and Christmas bonuses on Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, along with PWDs who will get P5,000 each. The latter amount is P2,000 more than they received last year.

Job-order workers will also get P5,000 each, while barangay health and nutrition workers and Clean and Green workers will each receive P2,400.

“The amount might not be as much, but at least it comes from the heart,” Cortes said in Cebuano.

Cortes made the announcement during the Christmas tree-lighting ceremony in front of the City Hall on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

“Christmas reminds me of how we enjoy the food and the company of one another since public service runs in our blood. My Christmas is always extended to the homes of our beloved city of Mandaue,” he said in his speech.

He said he hopes Mandauehanons, during this Yuletide season, will remember their predecessors who struggled so Mandaue City could celebrate its 50th anniversary.

“Let this light be a symbol of hope for a better tomorrow, for our family and for our city,” the mayor said. KFD
