THE first batch of barangay disaster risk reduction and management (BDRRM) officers in Mandaue City were trained on how to navigate the basic incident command system on April 10.

The training taught them to manage their respective villages in times of emergency and disaster situations.

Participants learned how to use the mobile phone-based app Guardian Emergency Response, which has been used in the Mandaue City’s DRRM efforts and initiatives.

Cloyd Dedicatoria, managing director of Guardian developer SugboTek, explained the features of the app and procedures in operating the command system to the BDRRM officers of barangays Alang-Alang, Bakilid, Banilad, Cambaro, Centro, Guizo, Ibabao, Looc, Subangdaku and Tipolo.
