Mandaue urges businesses to renew permits early

THE Mandaue City government is reminding the business establishment owners that the renewal for real property and business taxes will start on January 3 next year.

Lawyer Regal Oliva, Mandaue City treasurer, said that aside from business and real property tax compliances, they also urged business establishment owners to comply with other clearances required for the renewal of their business permits, such as sanitary permit, fire and environmental clearances and three nationally-mandated clearances such as registration before the Social Security Services (SSS).

Oliva said that on January 3 to 20, they will accommodate the renewal of clearances for establishments at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.

The processing will be open even during weekends and they will implement a “no lunch break” policy to ensure that they can accommodate as many as possible.

"We are asking alll the tax payers to process at the earliest possible time to prevent inconvenience," Oliva said.

Business owners who fail comply with the locally and nationally mandated clearances could face fines up to P20,000.

Oliva explained that the penalties are steeper so that business owners will not be complacent in complying with their obligations.

For this year, around 13,000 business establishments in Mandaue City were able to comply with their clearances.

Oliva said that for next year, they plan to implement extensive tax mapping after falling short from this year’s target.
