EATING vegetables, fish and avoiding food with MSG is the secret to living up to 100 years old, according to centenarian Esther Y. Roldan, who got P100,000 from Mayor Paz Radaza yesterday.

Roldan is the 10th centenarian who has received the cash prize from Lapu-Lapu City. None of it will go to processed food, as she doesn’t touch the stuff, according to her daughter Dr. Ruby Tapang.

Tapang said that when they were still children, Lola Esther often cooked vegetables and fish, and they believe this is one reason for her longevity. It was only when she turned 90 that Lola Esther started eating meat.

Lola Esther, who has eight kids and 14 grandchildren, also received a cake. (JPP)
