MANDAUE police urged the City Government not to renew the business permit of Liv Super Club after its former owner was linked to the illegal distribution and sale of Ecstasy.

This, after the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 disclosed that businessman Kenneth Dong, the club’s former owner, was part of the party drug’s distribution line in Metro Cebu.

Dong was arrested in Muntinlupa in Metro Manila last Feb. 4 after over a year of hiding after he was tagged as the middleman in the P6.4-billion shabu shipment that slipped past the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in May 2017.

Liv Super Club is located at the North Reclamation Area in Barangay Tipolo, Mandaue City.

Senior Supt. Julian Entoma, Mandaue City Police Office director, admitted that his personnel had a hard time monitoring what went on inside the club because they were barred from entering. Even if their operatives were not in uniform, club personnel somehow knew they were still police officers, he said.

Entoma said they received information that the club was often the venue for illegal transactions.

Mandaue City Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna, though, urged police and the PDEA to constantly monitor all party clubs for possible distribution of party drugs.

“Well. we cannot close it (Liv Super Club) because it is a legitimate business, only there are people there transacting illegally. That is why we need the police to be more present there. If there are non-uniformed police and PDEA operatives present, security in those establishments will be tight,” Fortuna said. (From FMD of SuperBalita Cebu, KAL)
