OFFICIALS and traffic managers of local governments in Metro Cebu attended the first Metro Cebu Traffic Administration Certificate Course Training organized by the Cebu Provincial Government. The training, which began yesterday and will last for five days, will teach traffic managers and officials how to better manage traffic in their communities, said Jonathan Tumulak, Cebu Province’s focal person for traffic management.

Tumulak said that the seminar is facilitated by the National Center for Transportation Studies, based in the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman campus.

Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III said that the activity will serve as a starting point for the Province’s plan to put up a traffic enforcement academy.

The five-day seminar will cover topics such as Transportation Planning, Road Traffic Safety, Fundamentals of Traffic Impact Assessment, and Public Transport Planning, among others. Tumulak said they prioritized the training of Metro Cebu traffic managers, including those working for traffic units in the three highly urbanized cities, because of the heavy traffic situation in these cities.
