2 MCWD execs call it quits

Sunnexdesk

TWO key officials of the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) have resigned from their posts.

In a statement, MCWD announced that Joel Mari Yu, who serves as chairman of the Board of Directors, and Jose Eugenio Singson Jr., who serves as general manager, have resigned from their positions.

Following Yu's resignation, the MCWD BOD named Augustus "Jun" Pe Jr. as acting chairman.

While MCWD assistant general manager Stephen Yee was named acting GM following Singson's resignation.

The resignation of Yu and Singson came just eight days after Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella ordered the firing of MCWD's BOD for failure to address the ongoing water crisis affecting Metro Cebu.

Yu's firing came as a sudden move as he recently sent a letter-reply questioning Labella's order to fire them and his subsequent refusal to step down from his post.

The statement read that the term of Yu, who represented the education sector, was supposed to end on Dec. 31, 2022. (JKV/PR)
