MINUEL Carmela Franco was sworn in before Governor Gwendolyn Garcia as the new member of the Provincial Board (PB) after the Office of the President approved her appointment.

She will assume the position left vacant by her husband, Cebu fourth district PB member Horacio Franco, who passed away on September 23, 2022 at the age of 46 due to a lingering illness.

The former vice president and Finance and Treasury of Vivant Corporation said on Monday, March 27, that she will continue the projects of her husband, including the establishment of a fourth district hospital in Bogo City.

Garcia welcomed Minuel's appointment, especially now that the Capitol is focusing to enhance its revenue collection.

She said Minuel’s professional background will be of great help to the Province.

The board members led by Majority Floor Leader Victoria Corominas-Torribio, Glenn Anthony Soco, Stanley Caminero and other veteran local legislators promised to help Minuel to be effective in public service especially that she is a political novice.

The ceremony was witnessed by the board members from each of Cebu's seven districts. (PAC/TPT)

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
