Motorcycle owners in Talisay urged to claim impounded units

THE City of Talisay Traffic Operations and Development Authority (CT-Toda) called on all motorcycle owners to claim their unit at the city’s impounding area.

CT-Toda head Jonathan Tumulak said around 100 motorcycles have remained unclaimed after being impounded for various traffic violations, such as the absence of official receipt (OR) and certificate of registration (CR), expired registration, and drivers driving without a license.

Claimants need to bring their OR/CR (official receipt/certificate of registration) and payment for the storage fee, which costs P100 per day or P36,500 a year.

The CT-Toda will send notices to motorcycle owners for three consecutive weeks before subjecting their vehicles to an auction.

"Ang mahitabo ana amo nang i-subject for auction, unya mo coordinate na mi sa atoang Commission on Audit (COA) ug sa General Services Office (GSO)," Tumulak said.

(We will submit it for auction and coordinate with the Commission on Audit and the General Services Office.)

Tumulak said that only the COA and GSO can determine the method of redeeming the impounded vehicles.

He said owners will have the chance to claim their motorcycles during the auction, except when the winning bidder buys all the units.

"Depende niya basta kon kinsay modaug sa bidding sa auction. Dunay posibilidad nga tingub-tingub bitaw ang pagpalit, dili kay by piece," Tumulak said.

(It depends on who wins the bidding in the auction. There is a possibility that he will buy all, not by piece.)

Tumulak said some of the impounded motorcycles have been there at the impounding area since before he became the city’s traffic czar more than three years ago. (BBT/TPT)
