JOMALIA Shipping Inc. has added another fastcraft to serve the Lapu-Lapu City to the Camotes group of islands route.

On Saturday morning, Dec. 14, 2019, it launched the 190-passenger capacity vessel with a crew of seven from the Mactan Wharf to Consuelo Port in San Francisco.

Mark Lua, sales and marketing director of Jomalia Shipping, assured the passengers of the vessel’s safety, saying they have been more vigilant in implementing safety measures and with the maintenance since one of its vessels ran aground as it approached the Consuelo Port last Oct. 28. The vessel was carrying 311 passengers and 19 crew, who were evacuated to pumpboats.

According to Lua, they’ve partnered with Safe Ships, a maritime consultancy firm that specializes in safety measures.

He said the company plans to purchase new vessels to better serve the public.

Aside from the Lapu-Lapu City to San Francisco route, Jomalia Shipping also sails to Olango Island from the Mactan Wharf, Olango Island from Punta Engaño and Consuelo Port from Danao City. / JCT
