A 59-YEAR-OLD farmer got injured after he parried the bolo intended for his daughter in Sitio Artiwi, Barangay General Climaco, Toledo City, midwest Cebu, on Tuesday morning, May 24, 2022.

Staff Sergeant Florentino Ariate of Toledo City Police Station identified the victim as Elmer Pabroa Cantupay, 59, a resident of Artiwi, Barangay General Climaco.

Based on police investigation, the victim's daughter Tomasa Cantupay had a heated argument with Carmelino Capacite Catubis, 52, neighbor and brother-in-law of Elmer, over a land dispute.

Afterwards, the suspect pulled out a bolo and hacked Tomasa but hit Elmer instead after the latter parried the bladed weapon.

The 12-year-old grandson of the victim came to the rescue and hit the suspect with a piece of wood in the head.

Both Elmer and Carmelino sustained wounds and were brought to Toledo City Hospital for treatment.

The suspect will face frustrated homicide charges that will be filed against him by the victim's family. (GDC, TPT)
