Piggery, septic tank in Sirao, Kamputhaw found ‘unsanitary’

CEBU City inspectors found a piggery and septic tank in two barangays unsanitary.

This prompted the City Legal Office (CLO) to instruct the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro) and the City Health Office (CHO) to conduct an investigation.

The piggery, owned by Noel Sibonghanoy, is in Sitio Tawason in Barangay Sirao. The septic tank was constructed by Regalada Malinao on Escario St. in Barangay Kamputhaw.

According to City Attorney Rey Gealon, Section 30.5 of City Ordinance 676, or the Revised Sanitary Code of Cebu City, states that the city health officer can destroy or close infrastructures that are nuisance and unsanitary.

The owners were given opportunities to adopt proper measures, but they reportedly failed to do so.

The Cenro and the CHO are about to wrap up their investigation. (JCT)
