Police cite revenge as possible motive for ‘gang rape’ of 15-year-old

REVENGE may have been the motive for the alleged gang rape of a 15-year-old girl by seven men in a coastal village in Liloan, a police official said.

Supt. Randy Korret, the town police chief, said the person who invited the victim to a drinking binge around 1 a.m. last Wednesday was her 20-year-old former boyfriend.

The girl joined them as the suspects are her neighbors in Barangay Catarman, and she probably thought she was safe with them.

(SunStar Cebu withheld the names of the victim and the suspects pursuant to the confidentiality provision of the Anti-Rape Law.)

The girl told investigators that they drank four bottles of rum mixed with monosodium glutamate.

The girl said she still remembers the suspects touching her private parts before she passed out.

When she woke around 9 the next morning, she was inside a cottage and her clothes were wet.

The girl then felt pain in her privates.

She told her grandmother about the incident and they reported the matter to the police.

Aside from the girl’s former lover, police caught six others, including a 16-year-old 11th grader.

They will be facing complaints of rape before the Office of the Cebu Provincial Police Office. (KAL)
