THE Commission on Elections 7 deemed as successful last Monday’s Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections after Central Visayas ranked second in the transmission of electoral results in the whole country.

Atty. Veronico Petalcorin, Comelec 7 director, congratulated the police and the military for securing the region during the polls despite the more than a hundred declared hot spots.

“Because of them, there was no electoral proceeding that was disrupted, which made us finish the transmission fast. That’s because we had a good plan and executed our security plan well in the elections,” Petalcorin said.

Police Regional Office 7 Director Robert Quenery said that the police will apply what they discussed in the final critique session in next year’s elections.

Quenery pointed out minor problems like the delayed deployment of personnel in the provinces, but they still managed to cover polling centers.

“The recommendations for the next elections will be presented to the Comelec,” Quenery said.

Col. Ignacio Madriaga, commander of the 302nd Infantry Brigade, said that their troops continued to conduct clearing operations in Bohol even before the encounter in Bilar, which happened right after the elections. (JOB)
