THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas will spearhead the investigation on the murder of alleged drug lord Steve Go.

Chief Superintendent Debold Sinas, the PRO-Central Visayas director, said they will determine why there was a firearm inside Mandaue City Jail, where Go was a detainee.

Sinas said the inquiry will be coordinated with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Central Visayas.

Go, 40, was shot dead past 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, inside the TC-2 building of Mandaue City Jail.

The assailant was identified as Cresenciano Heyrana, 41.

Heyrana admitted killing Go after the latter threatened to kill him.

Before the incident happened, Go, Heyrana and other inmates were playing "hantak," a coin game. Heyrana and Go then had an argument.

When Go tossed the coin, Heyrana grabbed Go's .38 revolver and shot him. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
