FORMER Department of Tourism secretary Ace Durano has been named the regional president for Central Visayas of the Partido Pilipino sa Pagbabago (PPP), the party that recently nominated Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte as its presidential candidate for the 2022 elections.

The appointment paper, signed by PPP founder Leonardo Fernandez, mentions that Durano will represent the party in all regional gatherings and functions, and act as chief administrator and official spokesperson of the region. He also has authority to approve plans and to disburse funds of the chapter.

Durano will also be representing the region in the national directorate and will set the agenda during regional and general membership meetings.

PPP, a national party recognized by the Comelec, held its national convention on September 28, 2021 in Tagum City, where it officially nominated Duterte-Carpio as its standard bearer for the 2022 presidential elections.

Composed of multi-sectoral groups and coalitions that backed Rodrigo Duterte in 2016, the PPP believes in a people-oriented, development-centered and participative and consultative governance.

The PPP sees Duterte-Carpio as the best candidate to continue the gains of the administration and hopes Central Visayas will be a big factor in making that happen. Cebu alone has 3.2 million voters making it the no. 1 vote-rich province in the country.

“We will work closely with our partners in Central Visayas and do our best to realize the vision of the party,” said Durano. (PR)
