DESPITE the series of anti-drug operations, the problem on illegal drugs in Central Visayas has not been fully solved, Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Brigadier General Debold Sinas said.

Sinas wants to further intensify their anti-drug campaign.

After seizing more than P16 million worth of illegal drugs during a one-time, big time operation over the weekend, Sinas said the region’s drug problem is still big.

The police chief added the seized contraband by the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) shows more illegal drugs will reach Central Visayas.

However, Sinas noticed some changes. He said the drug personalities caught during the recent anti-drug operations packed shabu in small sachets unlike before when it was packed in bigger packages.

“Buot ipasabot daghan pa gihapon. Imagine, kadtong sa Station 11, 1.6 kilos (placed in small sachets). Tapos ang katingala lang namo wala natong bulto-bulto kanang ready for dispatch na. So, na-timing lang gyud sa atong mga police nga nakuha,” said Sinas.

(It means the drug supply is still abundant. Imagine, the Station 11 personnel got 1.6 kilos (placed in small sachets). We wondered why the bigger packages that were ready for dispatch were gone. It was good timing that our police got it.)

Sinas admitted that the illegal drugs were from Luzon and were distributed to Cebu City and Cebu Province through roro vessels.

Police learned that the middleman is often a detainee who will call his contacts in Luzon and the prospective customers in Cebu.

Because of this, Sinas is hopeful that there will be a series of operations with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology 7 against drug personalities inside jail facilities.

Sinas said he is wondering why some drug personalities can still contact their underlings.
