THE onset of the rainy season could be declared by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on the second week of June.

Al Quiblat, the state weather bureau’s Visayas station chief, said Cebu and other provinces in the Visayas are expected to experience rainfall next month.

In a text message sent to Superbalita Cebu, Quiblat said Pagasa’s forecast shows the public should expect lesser volume of rain, below the normal level.

The veteran weatherman said the weak El Niño will continue until October.

Central Visayas is one of the provinces that experienced the effects of the dry spell.

El Niño damaged nearly P200 million worth of crops in the region and it dried up several dams, affecting the water supply. (From HBL of SuperBalita Cebu, KAL)
