WILL the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) push through as scheduled this coming December?

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama said that whether he likes it or not, the decision only lies on the chief executive.

“On matters about barangay election either it should proceed or not, I am really leaving it to the President (Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos),” said Rama.

Leyte Fourth District Representative Richard Gomez filed House Bill 937 to postpone the BSKE to 2023.

Senator Francis Escudero also proposed a measure to move the BSKE from December 5, 2022 to May 13, 2024.

Both Gomez and Escudero suggested to re-channel the P8 billion BSKE funds to cushion the effects of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic and the rising fuel prices. (PAC, TPT)
